I would like to start a discussion among others, like myself, who recently got diagnosed and are trying to dig themselves out of the hole.

Hi Frank and welcome.  Great topic.    I am not newly diagnosed.  I was diagnosed in 2004.  But depression is part of Parkinson  Disease.  I know from experience it is crucial to the PWP's health to become social, not just with family and friends, but with other PWP's.  It is also crucial to remember to take your meds on time and to talk to your doctor.  Tell your doctor that you are depressed and ask for his/her help in treating your depression.

It is very easy to sit at home and stop visiting people and going out and being social.  Once we begin to do this it is harder and harder for us to get out of the house and be social.  Frank, I would suggest you attend a support group.  CCPSG has support group meetings on the second and fourth Saturday of every month at the McKenna Event Center at 801 W. San Antonio Street in New Braunfels.  Our next meeting is on Saturday December 13.  Please come join us.  You will meet the most wonderful people.  We ask nothing of you.  There are no dues or fees for joining.  Join us as we talk about Parkinson Disease and how it effects and affects our lives and our families lives.
We also make a pretty good pot of coffee and there are usually snacks and treats.  But most importantly we are there to discuss Parkinson Disease and what we can do to make living with this beast called PD a little easier.  You spouse, if you are married, is welcome to join us too; because PD is a family disease.

Frank we also have a Facebook page.  Comal County Parkinson Support Group.  You might find it beneficial also.
